G. has graciously agreed to share her story and we did the interview in writing. This is yet another heroic woman that has overcome quite a few fertility challenges in order to meet her twin babies. Her story is real, honest, inspiring and touching. G.\u2019s solution to motherhood was through IVF but it was the thorough medical investigation and holistic approach to health that finally made a difference and gave her her miracle babies. I am especially thrilled to share her story because she, like me, was inspired and helped by a great teacher of mine, Gabriela Rosa.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – You have a long and challenging fertility journey with a happy ending.\u00a0 Would you tell us your story?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Yes, indeed our fertility journey was long and challenging. Nevertheless, I am grateful for all the people who could guide us along the way and help us achieve the best outcome we could have ever asked for.<\/div>\n
In 2014 after trying to conceive for six months, I found out I was pregnant and my husband and I were over the moon. Unfortunately, our happiness didn\u2019t last that long as I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks of gestation. I was truly devastated. I was looking for the reasons why this could have happened but no doctor could explain the real reason. I even started blaming myself, I was sure I did something wrong even though everyone told\u00a0 me it was not my fault and that it simply was not a viable pregnancy. A few months later we started trying to get pregnant again but it didn\u2019t work, we tried for a year with no success. That\u2019s when I decided to have a check up and was diagnosed with PCOS. I have also been dealing with an autoimmune disorder on my thyroid (Hashimoto) since 15 years, but my endocrinologist assured me that this was not a reason for not being able to get pregnant as I was taking medication for it.<\/div>\n
My gynecologist explained to me that PCOS is most likely the reason for not falling pregnant and recommended me to take Clomid and try Intrauterine insemination. My husband and I tried 4 cycles of IUI but all were unsuccessful. This was very frustrating and I was starting to lose hope. I knew that IVF would be our last resort and I was hesitant to try it as I was scared it would also not work.<\/div>\n
Then in April 2017, you told me about Gabriela Rosa and her natural fertility program. I was sure I want to try everything possible before going to our last resort (IVF) and convinced my husband to join me on the program. To my surprise he was fully on board with me and he did everything we had to do on the program. After one and a half year on the program, we were recommended to try IVF as all results were looking good and we were both in our optimal health. That\u2019s when Gabriela\u2019s team guided us to the right specialist who helped us conceive our miracle baby girls. I only got pregnant on the fourth round of IVF after my doctor did a laparoscopy and removed my endometriosis. This was clearly a big factor which hindered our chances of getting pregnant but was undiagnosed because I did not have any symptoms of endometriosis. I must admit that IVF is really tough and stressful. One puts so much hope in the process and if it is unsuccessful like it was the first 3 times by us, it is really emotionally draining. But with lots of perseverance, hope and tears, there was light at the end of the tunnel. \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – I know one of the people who helped you on your fertility journey is Gabriela Rosa.\u00a0 She is a great teacher of mine and has helped me tremendously.\u00a0 Would you tell me more about your work with her?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I really like Gabriela\u2019s approach on how to optimize a couple\u2019s fertility. She is very thorough, frank and she doesn\u2019t like to sugar coat things. She always said \u201cGod helps those who help themselves\u201d and this is so true. Her program is tough but the results speak for themselves. The only way she can get her patients to be the best version of themselves is if they do all the necessary work and stay consistent.<\/div>\n
Moreover, her mission is not just to help couples get pregnant but to help them be in their optimal health in order to have \u00a0healthy children. The way she does that is not simply by prescribing the right herbs and supplements but educating couples and helping them change their diet, lifestyle, mindset, etc.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – What were the minor factors challenging your fertility discovered by Gabriela?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 She identified more than 40 minor factors for us. From wrong diet to frequent flying without using protection from EMF exposure. The interesting thing is that all conventional doctors I was using at the time we were on the program thought I was crazy and these factors had nothing to do with our infertility. Even though nowadays there is so much research done on these topics, they simply disregard it and believe it\u2019s irrelevant.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – You shared with me one of the things she discovered was your elevated mercury level.\u00a0 What tests did she run, how did you detox it, and how long did it take?\u00a0 How soon after that were you allowed to try for a baby?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Gabriela thought it was essential to check the levels of Mercury in my body due to the fact that I was a pescatarian for 16 years prior to starting the program. Both my husband and I were asked to send a hair sample in order to check all minerals and heavy metals in our body. The reason why she prefers doing the hair testing rather than testing the blood is because hair shows all minerals and heavy metals which have been accumulated in the body from birth. It was my diet which contributed to my high level of mercury, so I was given special herbs which detoxify the body. It took me 3 months until my high level went down to medium and another 2 months until it was low and safe to try to conceive.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – What was the treatment she recommended for your PCOS?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For my PCOS it was mostly my diet which had to change. I had to eliminate all sugar, (even though I did not have insulin resistance) all dairy and gluten. She also prepared herbs which I had to take twice daily.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – \u00a0I know you have suffered a miscarriage.\u00a0 How did you manage to recover after it, to keep the faith and not give up? Did you ever reach the bottom or lose hope on your fertility journey and, if so, how did you manage to recover?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 During these six years of struggling to conceive there were so many times I was completely down and I felt like a failure. It seemed impossible to keep the faith that we were ever going to be parents. I was so desperate after each failed IVF cycle, I was even starting to doubt that my body was capable of carrying a child. That\u2019s why it\u2019s very important to be surrounded by people who believe in you and can support you in such difficult times. I am lucky to say that my husband has been a strong pillar during this difficult time and I could not have done this without him.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – Did you learn any lessons from\/along your fertility journey? Was there a purpose in your season of waiting? If you could go back in time, would you change anything?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The most important thing to remember if you and your partner are struggling with infertility is not to play the \u2018blame game\u2019. It takes two to tango, and so does a couple\u2019s fertility. A couple is in this together, no matter if he\/she has an underlying cause.<\/div>\n
I would not change anything because even though it was a long and difficult journey, I have gained so much knowledge and this whole experience has brought my husband and I closer and stronger than ever.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 – What is your message to the women and couples struggling with infertility?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Do not give up hope! You are not alone and it\u2019s not your fault! This isn\u2019t because of something you did or didn\u2019t do, so don\u2019t blame or punish yourself.<\/div>\n
You are the best advocate for yourself, so do your research and choose a professional you can trust and let him\/her guide you along the way.<\/div>\n
Struggling with infertility is one of the most stressful experiences a couple can have. The pain and the constant waiting can even trigger feelings of depression, low self-esteem and anger. All these feeling are normal and they are not a sign of weakness.\u00a0 Make sure you find the right support, whether it is your partner, counselor or a family member and share your feelings with them. You are not supposed to suffer in silence, on the contrary the right people will help you feel hopeful for the future. And last but not least find something you love to do, that will keep you occupied and takes your mind off of you fertility struggles.<\/div>\n
I know that all of this is easier said than done but I have been there and I know exactly how anyone in this situation feels. I am lucky to say that my story has a happy ending and I know that this may not be the case for every couple but I truly hope you will stay hopeful for your future, whether or not the future holds a child.<\/div>\n
